Today, Britax Römer looks back and takes pride in the role it has played in the successful enhancement of child travel safety for over 40 years.
Britax Römer was created in 1978, in a merger between the long-established British manufacturer Britax and its German counterpart Römer.
Based in Andover, Hampshire, Britax was founded in the 1930s, focussing initially on developments in areas such as adult seat belts. In the 1960s they launched the companys first child car seat. During the 1980s and 1990s the company expanded considerably into the USA, Australia and New Zealand, as well as to other various countries in Scandinavia and Asia.
Römers history is not dissimilar: although founded earlier in the 1870s manufacturing safety helmets, in the early 1970s the company began specialising in the field of child safety. Since then, this tradition-steeped brand has been an established name for young parents in Germany, with the companys products being used in almost every household where there are babies or small children.
Today, Britax is a globally operating company with a total of nine facilities in every part of the world, all of them dedicated to the issue of child safety.
